Who does Well Homes help?

Do you:

  • have a low income, or are eligible for a Community Services Card (CSC)

  • have a housing related health issue, or are pregnant or a new parent

  • live in the greater Wellington region

Apply online and our Well Homes administrator will contact you by phone to discuss your situation and link you with the most appropriate housing service.

Our free housing assessment with you in your home, offers useful tips and advice to stay warm and healthy, save power, and treat and prevent mould. We also look at your physical house, discuss health and social support, and check options for housing transfers.

We may be able to provide items directly - such as curtains, heaters and bedding – if funding allows. We engage landlords around heating, insulation and other upgrades and – for homeowners - we’ll check eligibility for large discounts off heating and insulation.

Referrals come to Well Homes from health professionals such as Māori and Pacific health services, doctors, nurses and social workers, as well as self referrals.

What does Well Homes do?

Still apply! If you don’t meet the criteria for Well Homes, we can link you with other housing services for your situation (such as Warm Fuzzies, Eco Design Advisors).

What if whānau don’t fit the above criteria?

Well Homes is a housing coordination service for the Wellington region that brings together Tū Kotahi Māori Asthma Trust, Sustainability Trust, Te Whatu Ora - Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley and He Kainga Oranga to deliver one of the Healthy Housing Initiatives under the Ministry of Health's Rheumatic Fever Prevention programme.
